Opposition Leader Sussan Ley says Labor’s headline election promise to expand bulk-billing has “fallen apart already” with doctors rejecting the chance to sign up to the scheme.
Several Perth GPs have criticised the scheme, saying it created what amounted to a production line of shortened consultations.
More than a fortnight into the roll out of Anthony Albanese’s $8.5 billion Medicare plan clinics across Perth have resisted incentives to switch to fully bulk-billing.
“Unfortunately, this bulk-billing policy has fallen apart already because what we see is families saying I cannot find a bulk-billing doctor,” Ms Ley said on Monday.
