An amber cold weather warning has been put in place for parts of the UK this week which could means they could be hit by snow and ice .

The UK Health Security Agency has upgraded a yellow cold weather health alert to amber in parts of the North of England.

The amber alert, which covers the North East, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, came into effect at 12pm today and will stay in place until 8am on Saturday. New Feature
