ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Officials with Fayette County Public Schools have announced they are looking to make changes after a September incident some parents called racially insensitive.
The incident was captured in a photo that has gone viral online, showing a group of people painted in black, including their faces, at a Whitewater High School volleyball game. The district confirmed the people in the photo are not current students and called the incident unacceptable and deeply offensive.
“Ever since it’s happening, we’ve been getting calls,” said Kevin Pratt, the Fayette County NAACP president. “I’ve been getting stopped at the grocery store, at church. ‘What are we doing?’ And I knew that the community needed to hear something.”
