With air quality deteriorating across Delhi-NCR and parts of northern India, air purifiers online are now selling for Rs 20,000, Rs 30,000 and even more. Worry not. Social-media DIY experts and influencers are here to extend some ease to your lungs (and your wallet).

With the AQI peaking and branded purifiers turning into luxury items, creators have jumped in with low-cost hacks, posting step-by-step videos to build air purifiers at a fraction of the market price. Their jugadu devices, usually made with a simple exhaust fan, a HEPA filter and a few metres of tape, claim to bring down indoor AQI in minutes, and many influencers are now uploading controlled tests to back it up.
