CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa ( WOI ) - Beef producers here in Iowa are reacting to President Donald Trump’s executive order to lift tariffs on grocery store items, including beef.
It’s a push to lower grocery store prices amid record high beef prices.
This new order slashes the 50% tariff the president put on Brazil cattle in July.
Here in Iowa, producer Justin Robbins tells WOI it’s too early to feel the full impact this will have.
“Wholeheartedly, I’m waiting to see how things play out,” Robbins said. “I’d love to make as much money on beef every day as I could. But also, as in your shoes as a consumer, it still needs to be a very wholesome, high quality, clean protein that you can afford to put on your table.”
