Iwas recently asked why I thought Donald Trump was ignoring the shutdown when so many of his base voters were directly impacted negatively. The answer is not that complicated. First, Trump, the billionaire New York City real estate conman, never really cared about those people. He needed them. He knew how to attract them by giving them a bogeyman to hate. But he didn’t really care about their plight or addressing their concerns.
