A Nov. 19 strike by 1,300 administrative staff employed by the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) was averted after the transit authority reached a tentative agreement with their union on Sunday.
Details of the agreement were not made public and have to be submitted for approval to the STM’s board of directors and the union’s rank and file.
The Syndicat du personnel administratif, technique et professionnel du transport en commun (SCFP 2850), represents workers employed in the transit authority’s human resources, intelligent technology and accounting divisions.
The deal comes as the STM is in the midst of labour negotiations with different unions. A last-minute deal was struck with bus and métro workers to avoid a 48-hour strike on the weekend.
