A former Indiana University women’s volleyball assistant coach has received penalties from the NCAA for betting on college games, including Hoosiers basketball and football games, while employed by the school.
The NCAA announced earlier this month that Brett Agne placed impermissible bets on professional and collegiate games over a five-month period.
Agne did not place bets on Indiana volleyball games, but he wager on IU football and men’s basketball games 27 times.
In total, he placed more than 700 bets for approximately $327,000. Agne told the NCAA that he was using an unregulated computer program to place bets on games automatically based on an algorithm. He added that he was not aware of which games he was betting on, including Indiana University games.
