A Detroit felon is headed back to prison for robbing and killing a Farmington Hills man in Dearborn five years ago — his second conviction for second-degree murder.
Following a 2024 mistrial and no contest plea last month, Robert Lee Bailey, Jr., 54, was sentenced on Nov. 14 to 5-20 years in prison for a reduced charge of second-degree homicide for the 2020 fatal shooting of Darius Whiting. Judge Mark Slavens of 3rd Judicial Circuit Court also imposed an additional two years behind bars for Bailey for felony firearm-second offense. Bailey, who had been scheduled for a second trial, pleaded no contest to the crimes; charges of first-degree murder, felony murder, armed robbery, felon in possession of a firearm, and three other counts of second-degree felony firearm were dismissed.
