PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Echo Canyon Trail is closed while crews begin to remove multiple boulders that eroded and loosened during recent storms on Monday.
The Phoenix Parks and Recreation Department discovered possible erosion along the trail in mid-October before a team of geotechnical and civil engineers finalized a plan to stabilize and remove three loose boulders.
On Monday, crews will begin coring multiple holes into each boulder and injecting expanding grout. Under pressure, the grout will cause the boulders to safely separate.
This plan prioritizes public safety and ensures that all work is completed as efficiently and minimally invasive as possible, according to the city in a statement.
“We understand how important Echo Canyon is to residents and visitors alike,” said Cynthia Agu
