The poll, from Cygnal, pits Collins against a generic Democratic candidate. Currently, there are several Democrats in the race, including Maine Governor Janet Mills and military veteran and oyster farmer Graham Platner, who is ahead in polls.

Why It Matters

Maine’s Senate race is seen as one of Democrats’ main opportunities to pick up a seat in 2026, as Collins is the only Republican representing a state won by Kamala Harris last November.

However, the moderate Collins, who has held the seat since 1997, has a long history of holding on to her seat even as the state votes for the Democratic presidential candidate.
