An alleged attempt to meet a 15-year-old for a sexual encounter led to a Lancaster man’s arrest, city police announced on Monday, Nov. 17.
Daniel Hackel, 22, attempted to meet with the teen on Sunday, Nov. 9, after arranging the encounter through online communication, according to the release. Police said Hackel later admitted to planning the meeting and acknowledged having “some” child sex abuse material on his phone.
Hackel was arrested at his home on the 400 block of North Duke Street on Friday, Nov. 14, police said.
He has been charged with the following offenses, according to the release and court documents:
- Felony Statutory Sexual Assault.
- Felony Attempted Corruption of Minors.
- Two Counts of Felony Criminal Use of a Communication Facility.
- Felony Sexual Abuse of Children (Child Under 10).
- Ten Counts of Felony Sexual Abuse of Children (Child Under 10).
- Felony Attempted Indecent Assault.
Hackel is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
