Perth’s Barmy Army has appeared to have gone soft.

The notoriously rowdy super-supporters have vowed to be on their best behaviour when they kicks off their Ashes campaign during the first test at Optus Stadium on Friday.

Perth Barmy Army coordinator Alison Foskett told The West Australian members have been put on notice.

Anyone hurling “abuse” at Australian cricketers or taking things too far will be kicked out of the famous cheer squad.

“There’s no abuse, it’s banter,” she said.

“It’s in very light-hearted spirits, it’s certainly not meant to be in any way abusive and we have our own code of conduct and rules that we abide by that specifically says that if anybody does engage in that kind of behaviour then they’ll be turfed out of the army.
