Now, to be fair, there are country songs I love from country artists I love, but I also don't think it'd be totally unreasonable to call the genre a bit samey. As our rural areas gradually vanish and the genre struggles to escape the post-9/11 haze of froth-mouthed patriotism, modern mainstream country has dwindled to a few self-cannibalizing ideas: trucks, unfaithful wives, and, of course, cold beer.
The Cold Beer Song, crafted from fifty samples of different country artists expressing their love for America's beverage with the exact phrase "ice-cold beer," delivers such an effective takedown of the genre that I'm surprised it's only 74 seconds long. Sixty-nine if you take out the outro.
