The race to replace Gov.-elect Mikie Sherrill in Congress is well underway, with Gov. Phil Murphy and Sen. Andy Kim announcing their support for two different Democrat candidates to fill the North Jersey seat.
Kim was the first to publicly share his choice, endorsing Tom Malinowski for the 11th District in a video posted Nov. 17 by Malinowski's team. Murphy followed later in the day with a video of his own backing Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill for the role.
The district, which covers a significant portion of Morris County and parts of Essex and Passaic counties, needs a new representative following Sherrill's gubernatorial victory over Republican Jack Ciattarelli in the Nov. 4 election.
