Internationally, investment reached a global high of $56.3 billion in 2021, but has since dropped significantly, down more than 70 per cent in 2024 to $16b.

Locally, Australia and New Zealand combined make up just $190 million of that - a drop of 63pc from the 2021 high of $513m - and are the lowest of all "developed" nations by a considerable margin.
