CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - One hundred thirty people were arrested within the first two days of Operation Charlotte’s Web, according to Homeland Security.
The immigration crackdown, which began on Saturday, Nov. 15, saw a “record-breaking” 81 arrests within its first five hours, Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino said .
By Monday, Nov. 17, Homeland Security confirmed the total had risen to 130, meaning an additional 49 people were arrested on Sunday.
“Criminal records of those arrested include known gang membership, aggravated assault, possession of a dangerous weapon, felony larceny, simple assault, hit-and-run, possession of stolen goods, shoplifting, DUI, DWI, and illegal re-entry after prior deportation—a felony,” a spokesperson wrote.
