An apparent road rage encounter in Oakland County escalated into physical violence involving two Macomb County men, where one was allegedly beaten to unconsciousness and suffered a head injury, officials said.

The alleged assailant, 43-year-old Kenneth Patterson Ross, of Washington Township, was subsequently arrested and charged with misdemeanor aggravated assault.

According to the Troy Police Department, it happened on Nov. 2 near John R and and Square Lake roads, where officers were dispatched shortly before 11 a.m. on a report for an assault in progress resulting from road rage, police said.
