WASHINGTON, D.C. – A federal judge has criticized the Department of Justice (DOJ) for its handling of an indictment against former FBI Director James Comey.

The judge stated that the DOJ “engaged in a disturbing pattern of profound investigative missteps” during the process. Issues highlighted included the incorrect description of the law to the grand jury responsible for delivering the indictment.

Comey was indicted earlier this year on charges of lying to Congress. The judge has ordered the DOJ to submit all grand jury material related to the case by the end of today.

The judge hinted at the potential dismissal of the case if the materials are not provided.
