BLACKMAN TWP., MI – A man and woman were seriously injured Monday morning when they were hit by a car while trying to cross the street.

Police and rescue crews were called at 6:49 a.m. Nov. 17 to Airport Road near Wayland Drive for a report of a crash involving a pedestrian, Blackman-Leoni Township Public Safety Director Darin McIntosh said.

Officers found that two pedestrians, a 33-year-old man and 20-year-old woman, were walking to work on Wayland Drive when a car hit them while they were trying to cross Airport Road, McIntosh said.

Both suffered serious injuries needing emergency treatment. The man was taken by air to Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit while the woman was taken to Henry Ford Jackson Hospital by ambulance, McIntosh said.
