AUBURN — Ashton Daniels won't see the field for Auburn football when the Tigers face Mercer this weekend, interim coach DJ Durkin said Monday, Nov. 17. The program will sit the senior quarterback to preserve his redshirt.

Auburn has yet to make a decision on who will start, Durkin said, but he added that both Deuce Knight and Jackson Arnold will see the field the against the Bears .

"I think the best thing for Ashton is to be able to preserve his redshirt year and be able to come back and play another year," Durkin said. "It's tremendous for this program and also for him. He has great football ahead of him, so we are going to do that."
