Ground was officially broken Wednesday on the first tower of what will become the largest residential development in London’s history – on the site of the former London Psychiatric Hospital. London Free Press reporter Jack Moulton explains.

WHAT IS LEGACY VILLAGE?
The project, led by London-based Old Oak Properties, will transform 57 hectares of land on the east side of Highbury Avenue North, between Oxford Street East and Dundas Street, into 8,400 homes – a mix of apartments and townhouses expected to house roughly 15,000 residents.
Plans also include a school block, park, several open spaces as well as heritage buildings planned to house commercial development.
