Enka football is seeking a new coach after the school announced that Mike Sexton retired on Nov. 17.
Sexton has coached the Jets for the past five seasons, compiling a 16-32 overall record.
In his final game on Oct. 31, Enka lost to Asheville High 20-17. The Jets finished 2-8.
Sexton got his first opportunity to be a head coach in 2003 at East Henderson. After two years with the Eagles, he moved on to Tuscola for two seasons, then coached Erwin from 2008-16. In 2021, he returned to Enka, his alma mater. Altogether, Sexton finished with a 110-97 overall record.
With a new coach, the Jets will try to bounce back from a 2025 campaign in which they finished fifth in the Mountain Athletic Conference, with wins over Cherokee and North Buncombe.
