The Kessler Twins have passed away.

The German sister act, who became huge stars between the ’50s and ’60s, decided to end their lives on the same day together on Monday (November 19) at the age of 89.

Alice Kessler and Ellen Kessler passed away in their home near Munich, Germany, with the use of medical aid in dying, per Bild .

“They had chosen to end their lives together. They no longer wanted to live,” the outlet reported.

Germany determined that assisted suicide would be enshrined within the country’s constitution in 2019 under certain conditions, per Dignity in Dying , which “includes the freedom to seek and make use of assistance provided by a third party.”

The person must “act responsibly and of their own free will.”
