New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was critically injured in a shooting in Manhattan early Sunday morning, authorities said.

The shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. on West 38 th Street near 7 th Avenue, according to the New York City Police Department, the Associated Press reports. Police reported a 29-year-old male – later identified by Mayor Eric Adams’ office as Boyd – was shot in the abdomen.

Boyd, 29, is currently in critical but stable condition at Bellevue Hospital, per the AP.

Police have released surveillance images of the suspect and are seeking more information. No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing, NYPD said.
