CLEVELAND, Ohio — The New York Jets will demote Justin Fields, and instead promote Tyrod Taylor to first-string going forward.
The news comes after the Jets suffered a 27-14 loss to the Patriots last Thursday night. Fields completed 57.7% of his passes for 116 yards and one touchdown in the defeat.
Fields has started in all but one of the Jets’ 10 games and has completed 62.7% of his passes for 1,259 yards, seven touchdowns, and one interception.
Fields was the starter in both of the team’s two wins: a Week 9 comeback win over the Bengals, and Week 11 home win over the Browns.
Taylor has made three appearances and one start, during Week 3 when Fields was out with a concussion. He’s completed 62.3% of his passes for 379 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions.
