BLACKSBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - Virginia Tech is working on a deal to hire former Penn State head coach James Franklin, according to ESPN ‘s Pete Thamel.
ESPN says the deal is expected to be completed in the near future.
Franklin coached at Penn State and Vanderbilt, with a win-loss record of 128-60 over 15 seasons. His resume includes winning more than 68% of his games. A 2024 College Football Playoff semi-final appearance and a Big Ten Championship are also on his list of accomplishments.
This hire will give the Hokies their most accomplished head coach since Hall of Famer Frank Beamer, according to ESPN.
