PLEASANT GROVE, Calif. —
A Sutter County man who died on Friday after he tried to drive across a water-covered bridge and was swept into a creek has been identified.
The Sutter County coroner identified him as 71-year-old Arnold Jee, of Pleasant Grove. Jee had just moved to the county earlier that week, the coroner said.
The California Highway Patrol said that on Friday just after 2:30 p.m., a delivery driver arrived at Fifield Road west of Pleasant Grove Road, but had stopped at the Pleasant Grove Creek Bridge because it was covered in 2-3 feet of water.
Officials said the recipient of the delivery, now identified as Jee, tried to cross the bridge from the opposite direction in a Mazda CX-5. However, the flowing water pushed his vehicle off the bridge and into the creek.
