Motion will be debated and voted on at Dec. 15 Calgary city council meeting

Calgary councillors took the first step toward repealing blanket rezoning, as they voted Monday to advance a proposal to scrap the policy to next month’s regular meeting.

A notice of motion to reverse a land use bylaw amendment that made residential grade-oriented infill (R-CG) the city’s default residential zoning district was brought to council’s executive committee.

It passed a technical review 13-2, meaning the motion will be debated and voted on at the Dec. 15 council meeting.

Ward 10 Coun. Andre Chabot introduced the notice of motion, which was co-sponsored by councillors Dan McLean, Kim Tyers, Rob Ward, Mike Jamieson, Landon Johnston and Mayor Jeromy Farkas.
