Evidence began Monday in a hearing to determine if Calgarian Mohamad Anass Mahmou Al-Sahli will stand trial for murder in the death of his estranged domestic partner.
Justice Susan Pepper ordered a publication ban on evidence to be presented by the Crown in Al-Sahli’s preliminary inquiry the request of defence counsel Alain Hepner.
Al-Sahli is charged with first-degree murder in the March 3, 2025, death of Anna Brazkho.

Crown prosecutors Janice Walsh and Erin Norman are expected to call 13 witnesses over the course of the hearing, which is scheduled for seven days.
The purpose of a preliminary inquiry is to determine if there is some evidence for a jury to weigh in the case.
