KINGSTREE, S.C. (WCSC) - The Kingstree Police Department says one person was injured in a grocery store shooting on Sunday.

Police responded to the store on the 1300 block of North Longstreet Street in reference to a reported shooting inside the Food Lion. Upon arrival, they were sent to a Williamsburg County hospital regarding individuals who had arrived with gunshot wounds.

It was later confirmed that the injuries the victim sustained were related to the Food Lion shooting, Chief of Police Kimberly Marlow said.

The preliminary investigation indicated that the victim was shopping when the suspect entered to locate them. When the suspect saw them, they shot at them, with the victim returning fire.
