Police have shot two men in separate incidents in Queensland, with one man dead and other taken to hospital in a critical condition.

Officers shot a man north of Brisbane early on Tuesday after he allegedly stabbed another man in the neck and threatened a woman with a knife.

Tyson Leedie was shot dead by Queensland police.

Officers were called to the stabbing at the intersection of Beerburrum Road and Commercial Drive in Caboolture about 3.42am.

The alleged offender, 26-year-old Tyson Leedie, fled on foot, and was found by police a short time later threatening a woman he did not know on Margaret Street.

An officer shot Leedie, who died at the scene.

The man he allegedly stabbed was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a serious condition.
