Police have launched a manhunt after a person tried to sexually assault a woman aged in her 80s in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley.
Officers have been told the elderly woman was hiking in Brooklyn Park at Ashtonfield about 7.20pm on Monday when a male offender knocked her to the ground and attempted to sexually assault her.
The offender fled the park and the woman contacted a family member, who then notified police, a NSW Police statement said.
The victim was hospitalised for treatment.
The State Crime Command’s Sex Crimes Squad are assisting local detectives in an investigation into the horrific incident.
Police are looking for a teenage boy that left the park on a push scooter, who officers believe could assist the probe.
