Melbourne radio host Tom Elliott has lashed out at the Victorian Liberal Party after Brad Battin was dumped as leader in favour of first-term MP Jess Wilson.
Ms Wilson was elected unopposed on Tuesday, after MPs voted 19 to 13 in favour of spilling the leadership – making her the third Victorian Liberal Party leader in just 11 months.
The 35-year-old Kew MP’s elevation to leader came just 24 hours after a bipartisan group of MPs – which did not include Ms Wilson – informed Mr Battin he no longer had the support of the partyroom.
However 3AW Morning host Tom Elliott slammed the decision on Tuesday, arguing it would only undermine their ability to return to government.
“The opposition in this state is mad. It is utterly, ridiculously mad,” Elliott said.
