Jess Wilson has outlined how she plans to defeat the Allan government in her first interview since being elected Liberal leader.

Ms Wilson was elected unopposed as leader on Tuesday, after MPs voted 19 to 13 in favour of a spill motion - less than 24 hours after a bipartisan group of MPs informed Brad Battin he had lost the support of the partyroom.

Sitting down with Sky News Australia’s Peta Credlin, the 35-year-old first-term MP pledged that she would work “day in, day out” to defeat the state’s Labor government, which has been in power since 2014.

“I say to Victorians who are watching tonight, I'm in your corner. I want to make Victoria a better place again. I want to bring hope back to this state,” she said.
