Donald Trump has threatened to strip 2026 FIFA World Cup fixtures from host city Seattle, citing concerns around law enforcement following the election of its new "socialist" mayor.

The US President made a flurry of announcements alongside FIFA boss Gianni Infantino inside the Oval Office on Tuesday (local time).

Trump suggested the six expected fixtures to be held in Seattle could be moved to another city, citing his concerns for safety.

Over the past few months local laws in Seattle have limited the powers of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency, impacting Trump's policy on illegal immigration.
