School board trustees are left wondering whether a new Student and Family Support Office will make their jobs easier or replace them altogether.

On Thursday, the province announced a two-phase rollout for the offices in 2026 , which it describes as a more streamlined approach to address parents’ concerns with their children’s education.

The offices will first launch in the five school boards under provincial control in January — this includes the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board, Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, Thames Valley District School Board, Toronto District School Board and Toronto Catholic District School Board — before a full provincewide rollout at the start of the school year in September 2026.
