PAGE, AZ (AZFamily) — A teenager has died after being stabbed last week in northern Arizona.

Page Police said officers responded to a home in the 100 block of 8th Avenue after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed just before midnight on Friday.

The suspect, who police identified as an “adult family acquaintance,” fled the scene after the stabbing but was arrested by Navajo Police near Kaibeto, Arizona, about 30 miles east of Page.

As the investigation was ongoing, the teenager died from his injuries.

Police said the suspect was taken into custody on unrelated changes, then confessed to the stabbing. A second-degree murder warrant was issued for the suspect.

Page Police are working to extradite the suspect from tribal custody.

No one involved in this incident has been publicly identified.
