LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. — A Lexington County school cafeteria employee has been arrested after deputies say he brought a loaded firearm onto the Sandhills Middle School campus.
Andrea Brooks, 43, is charged with carrying a weapon on school property, according to an arrest warrant.
“The school resource officer was notified after a district employee told school administrators they discovered a firearm in one of the employee bathrooms,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “Brooks admitted to leaving the firearm in the bathroom after realizing he still had it on him.”
Deputies say the school resource officer recovered the firearm from the bathroom, which had been locked and was not accessible to students.
