KALAMAZOO, MI — A Grand Rapids man who threatened to kill President Donald Trump, Vice President J.D. Vance, one of Trump’s children and a fourth individual this spring was sentenced to federal prison on Monday, Nov. 17.

James Donald Vance, Jr. 67, was sentenced to two years in prison for posting threatening communications online, U.S. Attorney Timothy VerHey announced.

Vance Jr. was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Paul L. Maloney, who described the crime as “grievous conduct” that required a prison sentence to deter others from making similar threats.

The Grand Rapids man, under the alias “Diaperjdv,” made the threatening posts in March and April on the BlueSky social media platform, according to court records.
