MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Dane County Regional Airport has announced new amenities and improvements to support travelers with Alzheimer’s and dementia.

The upgrades include designs to help with directions, specialized training for airport staff, and quiet, private spaces.

Dane County Executive Melissa Agard said that the improvements are an important step to model what it means to have inclusive public spaces.

“Dementia touches many families in our community, and it is something we cannot ignore.” Agard said. “In Dane County, we are not ignoring it—we are addressing it.”

Agard went on to say that Dane County is working to build a community where everyone feels included, feels safe, and knows that they are valued.
