TPG Telecom customer has died after a failed triple zero call.

The customer, who has not been identified, died on Thursday, November 13.

They were connected with budget TPG brand Lebara but their call could not connect to emergency services.

Their Samsung phone was running on a software which is outdated and incompatible with Triple Zero access on the provider's network, preliminary investigations have found.

"Samsung recently identified that certain, older devices required a software update to enable Triple Zero functionality on TPG Telecom’s mobile network," the telco said in a statement.

No outages have been reported as having occurred at the time of the failed call.
