VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A Virginia Beach community is mourning the sudden loss of Jon White, the longtime head football coach at Bayside High School, who passed away over the weekend.
White is being remembered as a father, husband, teacher, and mentor whose leadership and dedication shaped countless young lives.
Friends, students, and former colleagues say they are still struggling to accept the news.
Landstown High School head coach Robert Jackson — who once coached White at Bayside — says the loss feels deeply personal.
“I’ve been coaching for a little over 32, 33 years. I expected Jon to be standing here talking about me, not me talking about him.”
