ROCKFORD, Ill. (WREX) — The City of Rockford is expected to vote on the 2026 budget Monday after it was approved by the Finance and Personnel Committee last week.
The budget is a balanced one, that includes funding towards public safety and crime reduction, among other items.
"Our residents want us to continue to fund education initiatives. They want us to continue to keep our property taxes flat so not increasing our property taxes. They want to make sure that they're living in a community that's safe so funding public safety. And they want to see an improved quality of life so those are all things that we have included in this year's budget," Rockford Mayor Tom McNamara said.
It will also include funding towards several community programs, infrastructure, and the state-mandated public
