CHANDLER, Ind. (WFIE) - On March 1st, a mine beneath a Chandler neighborhood collapsed, damaging many of the homes near Monroe Street.
Eight months later, some are still struggling with the fallout.
They say they expected to get support from FEMA, but the support never came.
One man, Brian Lucas, says besides a small amount of financial aid from the state, repair costs have been all out of pocket. He says most of his support has come from nearby.
“It’s my family. That’s been my support, and there are a lot of us in the same boat,” Lucas stated. “We talk back and forth, we try to share information when we get it. You just pick yourself up and move on.”
