COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) - After around 50 people were displaced from an apartment fire , a Colorado Springs church took in some of those families ahead of Thanksgiving.
Over the weekend, residents of the Montecito Apartments were forced out of their homes after a two-alarm fire. As of writing, Colorado Springs firefighters said the cause of that is still under investigation.
As officials investigate, Zeal Church, located at the Citadel Mall, said they activated their shelter for the first time since they opened in 2024.
“This was a really pivotal moment for our church because we really believe that God planted us here in the Citadel location to serve our neighbors,” Director of Operations Sarah Steffensen said.
