ALBANY – Because it’s getting cold outside, Governor Hochul has implored the Trump administration to release $400 million in HEAP funds due to New York. Now that the shutdown is temporarily over, where is the money, the governor questioned.
“If you recall, Donald Trump promised on day one to lower utility bills. Prices are going to come down. Utility bills are going to be lower, and instead they’re rising,” Hochul said. “And this delay in starting a program (HEAP) that is supposed to help people with those utility bills is just cruel. And we cannot stand idly by here in the state of New York while that happens to our people.”
She said that help is available. “Sign up for this. Take advantage of this. The state and our legislature, myself, are committed to helping you,” she said.
