ST. PAUL, Minn. — Governor Tim Walz has issued writs of special election to fill vacancies in Minnesota’s State House Districts 47A and 64A.
The District 64A seat became vacant after Kaohly Vang Her resigned to assume office as Mayor of St. Paul, while the 47A seat is open as Amanda Hemmingsen‑Jaeger is running for the State Senate.
Special elections are scheduled for Tuesday, January 27, 2026, with potential primaries on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, if needed. Candidates may file affidavits of candidacy and nominating petitions from November 18 through November 25, 2025, with the Secretary of State or the relevant county auditors.
These elections ensure continued representation for constituents in both districts, with all notices and procedures following Minnesota’s statutory guidelines
