CHICAGO (WLS) -- As the Chicago area is seeing a dramatic decrease in fentanyl deaths, some advocates are warning that this progress should not lull the public into a false sense of security.
According to preliminary Cook County Medical Examiner's Office data, the county is on track to have the first year with fewer than 1,000 fentanyl deaths since 2018.

But a suburban mother who lost her daughter to fentanyl poisoning is sounding the alarm. Monica Reeves is warning families not to get complacent.
Her daughter, Tiffany Reeves, was just 27 years old when she died from fentanyl poisoning. She said her mother's intuition kicked even before she received the devastating phone call.
"My daughter's gone. I just felt it," she said.
