The effects of Sunday’s federal announcement ending flight reductions at 40 airports could be seen Monday morning at Newark Liberty Airport, with only one canceled flight as of 11 a.m. compared to 47 on Friday.

Nationally only 45 flights were canceled, a massive change from the 1,052 cancellations made on Friday, according to the FlightAware flight tracking website.

The reductions were due to air traffic controller staffing issues resulting from the 41-day federal government shutdown.
